How to Use the PAX A80

Powering the Terminal On or Off
To power the terminal on or off:
- Press and hold the red X key on the physical keypad.
IMPORTANT! Disconnecting the AC power will immediately power off the terminal, and any transaction in progress will be canceled.

Terminal Input Options
The PAX A80 terminal allows input via:
- On-screen keypad
- Physical keypad
Both operators and customers can interact by entering information and responding to prompts using the terminal’s touch screen or physical keypad.
Function Keys
The physical keypad includes three colored function keys for basic operations:
- Green (O key): Confirm an entry (also available as the “OK” button on-screen).
- Yellow (< key): Correct an entry (also available as the “BACK” button on-screen).
Red (X key): Cancel a function (also available as the “CLEAR” button on-screen).

Replacing the Printer Paper
The terminal uses 2 ¼” (58mm) thermal paper rolls for printing receipts. Follow these steps to replace the paper:
- Locate the lever with the contactless logo on the back of the terminal.
- Lift the lever to unlock and open the printer cover.
NOTE: The printer cover opens on a hinge and does not detach from the terminal.
- Place a new thermal paper roll in the tray, ensuring the paper unrolls from the back of the roll. Leave about 2 inches (5 cm) of paper beyond the cutter.
- Close the printer cover until it clicks into place.
- Tear off any excess paper.
IMPORTANT! Loading the paper incorrectly will prevent the printer from functioning.

Connecting the Terminal Cables
The terminal has multiple ports located at the back for various connections. Common connections include:
- Ethernet (red icon): Use an Ethernet cable.
- Power (green icon): Use the power cable.
- PIN Pad (purple icon): Use the PIN pad cable (if required).
Refer to the diagram on the terminal for accurate cable placement.

Configuring the Terminal Network Connections
The terminal has multiple ports located at the back for various connections. Common connections include:
- Ethernet (red icon): Use an Ethernet cable.
- Power (green icon): Use the power cable.
- PIN Pad (purple icon): Use the PIN pad cable (if required).
Refer to the diagram on the terminal for accurate cable placement.

Connecting to an Ethernet Network
- Plug the network cable into the terminal’s correct port and connect the other end to a network jack or hub.
- On the terminal’s main screen, tap the Settings icon.
- Tap the Please Input Password field and enter one of the following passwords: 9876 or pax9876@@.
- Tap the checkmark (✔) to confirm, then tap OK.
- In the Wireless & Networks section, tap Ethernet.
- If the Ethernet is Off, toggle it On. The connected network settings will then appear.
- (Optional) To manually configure the connection:
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Ethernet Configuration to select and configure the Connection Type.
- Tap the Back icon twice to return to the main screen.
Connecting to a Wireless Network (Wi-Fi)
- On the terminal’s main screen, tap the Settings icon.
- Tap the Please Input Password field and enter one of the following passwords: 9876 or pax9876@@.
- Tap the checkmark (✔) to confirm, then tap OK.
- In the Wireless & Networks section, tap Wi-Fi.
- If Wi-Fi is Off, toggle it On. A list of available networks will appear.
- Tap the name of your preferred network.
- Enter the network password and tap CONNECT.
Using the Sola/Omaha/Elavon App
Running a Transaction
- Launch the Sola, Omaha, or Elavon app.
- Select the type of card transaction you want to process (e.g., Credit, Debit, or EBT).
- Tap Sales.
- Enter the transaction amount and press Enter (green button).
- Follow the prompts to complete the transaction using one of the card payment options listed below.
Card Payment Options
There are three (3) ways for customers to pay with their card using the terminal:
- Insert the card into the chip reader.
- Swipe the card using the magnetic stripe reader.
- Tap the card on the contactless reader (for NFC-enabled cards).
